The World Sports Alliance is on a mission to improve the lives of under privileged children in the USA and around the globe, while supporting the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, which were established in the year 2000 by Secretary General Kofi Annan. Today Angela visits the WSA headquarters for a discussion with Joe Fragga, Executive Director, Padmini Ram, Program Officer and Ambassador Ousmane Moutari (Niger) about how the organization uses sports and the Montessori teaching method to promote health, fitness and education for needy youth.

In the lead up to the International Day of Peace (September 21st) Angela chats with We the World founder Rick Ulfik and learns among other lessons, that September 11th was not so notorious before the year 2001. It was in fact the day when countries engaged in armed conflict agreed to call a cease fire in observance of the first day when the United Nations General Assembly gathered in New York City. Rick also talks about the upcoming Eleven Days of Global Unity Festival.

There must be resources available to help them cope with life after they've left their abusive partners and to put them on a positive and constructive life path. In this hour Trisha Duvall, President of the New York Junior League and An Trotter, Focus Manager for domestic violence issues, speak about the Junior League's programs for the uplifting women's lives.

ONAJE ALLAN GUMBS

Jazz pianist, composer, arranger, songwriter and producer Onaje Allan Gumbs is one of the Jazz world's most respected musicians. Since the seventies, Onaje has collaborated with many musical luminaries, he is credited with arranging the R&B classic hit Betcha' By Golly Wow and he is the recipient of many accolades including the 2006 NAACP Image Award. On today's show, Onaje tells Angela and the listeners just how his practice of Buddhism compliments his musical and humanitarian aspirations.
